This USB-C dock with PD Charging expands the potential of your tablet, laptop, Chromebook, MacBook, smartphone or PC's USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. It's ideal for transmitting 4K video and digital audio to a large display, adding a thumb drive and other USB peripherals, powering and charging a PD Charging-compliant mobile device, connecting to a Gigabit Ethernet network and a lot more - all at the same time.
By connecting the built-in USB-C cable to a source device that supports USB DisplayPort Alt Mode, you can output 4K video and digital audio to an HDMI monitor, television or projector without installing special software drivers.
The U442-DOCK5D-GY supports Ultra HD video resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 (4K x 2K) at 30 Hz with multi-channel sound and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling for top-level PC gaming or using your HDTV as a PC monitor. Connect the HDMI port to your display using an HDMI cable (such as Tripp Lite's P568-Series, sold separately). A DVI display may also be connected using an HDMI to DVI adapter (Tripp Lite's P566-Series, sold separately).
Three USB-A hub ports accept USB peripherals, such as flash drives, mice, keyboards and printers, and provide 5V 2A (10W) of charging power when connected to a PD 3.0-compliant charger. They support fast USB 3.0 data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps (10 times faster than USB 2.0) and are backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices. One BC 1.2-compliant port provides up to 5V 1.5A (7.5W) of fast-charging power to mobile devices.
The USB-C 100W Power Delivery (PD) port provides power and charging to the connected PD Charging-compliant device (such as a MacBook Pro, Chromebook or Android smartphone). Connect the device's AC wall charger to the USB-C PD port, which supports power input up to 20V 5A (100W). That's sufficient wattage to fast-charge, sync and power most high-capacity devices, including the MacBook Pro. This port can also be used for transferring data. PD 3.0 Fast Role Swap technology ensures all data and power connections remain stable if the wall charger becomes accidentally dislodged.
The RJ45 port offers access to a Gigabit Ethernet network when Wi-Fi is unavailable or when a wired connection offers faster speeds. Connect using a UTP cable (Tripp Lite N201-Series Cat6 cables sold separately), and enjoy true 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet speeds for fast data transfers.
The memory card slots support Micro SD and SD/MMC cards for transferring data to and from your connected computer, laptop or tablet. Both slots may be used at the same time.
Unlike traditional USB cables that connect in only one direction, the reversible USB-C male connector plugs into a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port in either direction for a fumble-free connection every time. (See Tripp Lite's U420-Series if you prefer a cable of a different length.)
The plug-and-play USB-C dock is specifically designed for use with the MacBook Pro, Google Chromebook Pixel and other laptops, tablets and devices equipped with a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. It requires no software or drivers. It's about the size of a smartphone, making it easy to pack into a pocket, backpack or laptop bag for multiport convenience wherever you go.
