Coming from an inkjet printer that needed ink replacement pretty frequently and happy to see a laser printer that does the job quickly with long toner life (starter toner that comes with printer printed about 600 pages before giving up. Only gripe is that Brother increased pricing on these printers with the Covid-19 pandemic - to almost double! Deducting one star for this.

Setup was a bit difficult, but I eventually got it. The scanner scans great, but I had to configure it so it wasn't putting a 4x6 picture on an 8 1/2x11 canvas. I don't know how it did this, but i had a two page document and it printed it on one piece of paper using both sides. My other printer, that this one replaced, required that i pass the paper through twice and i usually got the orientation wrong. That was a pleasant and very welcome surprise. Scanner's great, too.

Specifications promised 6 thousand pages of prints per toner cartridge The printer has been great, with good enlarge/reduce functions, and very good quality printing. Unfortunately after several months of very light duty (10-20 copies a month the toner cartridge has run dry. Estimated page count for the first toner cartridge is maybe 200 pages at the most.

The set-up was easy and the functioning so far has been excellent. Since this is in a home office, I imagine it would be considered a “light duty” environment. I do wish that this model had an automatic feeder for scanning and copying. But then, what can I expect for the low end price?

It prints on an arbitrary bases... in other words some days it works fine, other days it won’t print at all. I’ve dealt with customer service who fixed the problem, and within a couple of days, it has reverted back to working when it feels like it. When it does print, it is quick and good quality, so that part is great.Overall though, I would not recommend and it has damaged Brother’s brand in my eyes.

It's B&W, so I don't have to goof around with color cartridges, etc. I have had this printer roughly six months and in that time it has been bulletproof. Yes, I would buy another and when my wife gets sick and tired of her color printer I will try to talk her into a Brother color laser.

We print infrequently & do not need color, so this seemed like a good option. Printer is still running on the original toner cartridge. I have scanned almost all our old files to removable media (gotten rid of filing cabinets). This printer has met every need we had for a printer. For a low-print-volume household, it has been the perfect printer!

Even after that it would go 'offline' all the time and I had to call technical support who walked me through the set up to get rid of the offline problem. My sister recommended this printer because they had one at her place of work and of course they had inhouse technical support. Too hard to setup I would not recommend this for home use.

Took me a bit to get it set up properly but once setup, it works great. Prints great and fairly fast. An output tray would be nice to hold more pages but not a big deal for me. Scanner also work fine. Overall satisfied after a couple of months ownership.

Print quality is just fine, printer adjustments in software or at panel are easily accessed and sufficiently varied. Footprint is quite acceptable, physical build is what I'd expect of a printer in this price range i.e. not industrial but more than sufficient for home business use. Scanner produces good quality images; again, adjustments are varied enough to fine tune performance but not unwieldy in their number. Supporting software seems a little disjointed in the GUI but, if you spend a little time using it, becomes second nature. I'd readily recommend this printer to anyone not needing color and ready to get off the inkjet merry-go-round of never-ending head cleaning and tank replacement.

Brother has been at the top of my list for several years and when I found the HL-L2390DW I knew that it was time. I bought two of them. One for me and one for the wife. Yes we each have our own setups!

It remains to be seen if it is a toner hog or not but I am sure it is a lot cheaper than the -- Officejet I had. We don't print photos so this is perfect. It's fast to spool up and doesn't run internal/automatic maintenance routines between every page it prints.

In my last job (where I retired) I used a brother laser printer daily. As the production manager for a commercial print shop I printed lists of jobs in-process for every employee in each department (pre-press, camera, press, bindery, etc.). I would use two to three reams of paper each week and NEVER had a bad sheet. We only replaced toner cartridges as needed. That's why I bought one for my home office.

Printing, scanning, and copying all work fine, and with WIFI, you can put the printer wherever you want w/o having to deal with wires. Quality is just fine. The one area that would be an opportunity for improvement might be in scanning. If you're trying to scan something that is faint (like a receipt for something that has to be submitted for reimbursement, it would be nice to get a preview of the output so that you can see exactly what the setting adjustments are doing. Since you can't do that, it's hit and miss. For items where the image isn't faint, no issues. Another plus, while I'll admit I can't recall all the details, has to do with drivers. I got the impression that whenever new drivers might be needed, I shouldn't run into issues. So, overall, I'm very pleased and it would be unreasonable to expect more for the $.

Scanner is better than my flat bed Canon because it warms up virtually instantly. Feature I didn't know about was OCR, which it does very well, even with reversed type (white on a color background). All in all, an excellent value.

It lacks some features found on some inkjet printers in the same price range like color and photo and auto feed but I hardly miss those features. I have not tried printing envelopes yet and I understand from a review that it might be difficult but my biggest peave is getting it to do two sided printing from the printer itself (not from the computer when I use the touchpad as there are so many steps to do so and make more than one copy at once. Selecting more than one copy puts you in a loop where I somehow get out of making two sided printing after the first page and I waste a lot of paper and toner with one sided prints. I wish once two sided print is selected it would remember that setting till I change it or if there is a button for that or they would come up with a software and or firmware update for that! Maybe on the newer model they have improved on that as I have a 2018 model I think. Otherwise the printer prints sharply and efficiently and it is built quite solidly and the toner is inexpensive and the ink doesn't clog like with all inkjet printers and doesn't use up ink for maintenance cycles like all inkjets do. I've had a number of different brands and models of inkjets and the laser is by far a better choice for infrequent users like me and for B &W printing. I got a brother because it has been rated the best for a number of years! I am quite happy with this product except for above so I rate it 4 stars for value and crisp, fast copies!

I have had it for about two months now and there have been no problems. It is the fastest printer I have ever had or seen. Also I like the "two sided printing feature". Saves paper for many of my uses. I don't miss the absence of color-printing, nor the added cost of colored ink. It is a practical home printer, and serves my purposes well. I particularly like the ease with which I can print envelopes, which I need to print often. I also like that it uses a container of toner rather than ink cartridges. Less fuss and much easier to change than ink cartridges which used to leave a residual sticky mess inside my former printers. All in all, I give it a five star for every day home use.

For home use it’s perfect. We have another brand color printer for prints and copies and photos that we prefer in color. As long as the toner last longer than ink tanks it will be our favorite. Prints and copies well. So far we are very pleased with it.

I print from my laptop, phone and iPad without any issues. Great price too. I had an old model Brother Laser which is at least 10 years old and it still works great. This is why I decided to buy Brother again with the additional scan and copy features.

This is a great printer. It prints very cleanly in black ink and is very fast - I was impressed with how fast it printed. However, the set-up to connect wirelessly to one of our laptops was a frustrating experience. It look well over 90 minutes and several attempts to connect it, despite instructions being very clear (so it seemed. The set up code did not work when typed into the laptop after we installed the software via CD (very old fashioned) so we had to try many times by typing the code into the actual printer (3 hits of each button to form each letter on a multi letter/number code). I was quite unhappy with the set up and almost got to the point where I said forget it, this free printer isn`t worth the hassle. That all notwithstanding, the printer works great. It`s easy to use, you can copy and scan and fax, as well as print. I do not use it for faxing, so I cannot talk to that. It is indeed a wireless printer so it lives up to its name.

Also the instructions and the pictures of where to set it up are incorrect. The picture shows the ink at the back but the printer takes the ink in the front. I could not get a real person on the weekend and had to wait until Monday. When I got a real person he was able to talk me through the installation, which was entirely different than what the instructions said. Through his instructions I was able to get it to work.

Would definitely recommend this for someone needing monochrome printing. Very easy to set up and load software. Easy to connect wirelessly and wired for internet connection. Will purchase another Brothers when this one goes down.

I purchased this printer to replace a Brother monochrome laser printer that was probably close to 20 years old or more. It still worked, so I gave it to a friend. The only thing I would change is the cover you lift to copy with. It has to go all the way up and back before it will hold itself. I wwould like to see it maybe have some way to only go three quarters of the way up and hold, but that is due to where I have it in my computer room. Would buy again.

The Brother HL-L2390DW Laser Printer with Copy & Scan Duplex and Wireless Printing is such a simple to use printer that allows all of my devices to connect to it with ease over WiFi. Before I used to struggle with wires and installing different software and drivers to be able to take a single print out, however with this printer I am able to download an app for my mobile or laptop and easily scan and print with a single button. I am impressed how quickly I was able to set up the the Brother printer out of the box and connect it to my WiFi. I highly recommend this product to any person or business who needs a printer or scanner plugged in the corner of their home/office and make many printouts very quickly. All in all, I am very happy with the Brother HL-L2390DW Laser Printer!

Arrival: When the printer arrived, I was surprised at how light the box was. The box, though large, was easy for a one person to pick up and move around the house.Set up: The printer was super simple to set up. The printer was packed well and directions were right on top, so I was able to move quickly into setting it up in my office space. The instructions had clear directions with photos, and I literally took it out of the box, set it on the table, removed packing material, and plugged it in.Toner installation: This was my first time using a smaller toner cartridge with a smaller printer, but the instructions were really simple and easy to follow. The color coding on the top of the toner cartridge all but ensured that I would not insert it the wrong way. The toner slid in easily and audibly clicked into place so I knew it was ready to go!Use: I used the printer every day, several times a day for a week. The printer is quiet. I sometimes had to look up and check to see if something actually printed! The printer itself does not violently shake as it completes a print job, which I think is another part of the reason it is so quiet.This is a huge feature for me, as I am often printing while on the phone. The printer, thought light in weight, seems sturdy and well built. The printing is super fast even for multiple pages. I was easily able to print a 15-20 page document, and it would be complete by the time I closed the file, pushed my chair back, and walked over to the printer to pick up my documents. I was also able to print quickly from my laptop and cell phone. The quick download of the Brother app was easy and free, and I was able to sync quickly with the wireless network in my home. I also find the speed of the scan feature helpful and the wireless feature enables me to scan to my cloud folder to retrieve the document easily. Design/Look: The overall look and design is very sleek . The dark slate gray color s a common printer color, but the size and shape of the printer makes it seem more like furniture than an office item. It has a flat face and does not have an external tray that sticks out to catch a hip or get in the way of other furniture. The document tray is internal, so no more printing and losing the document as it slides across the floor under a couch! The base of the printer is also not wide; it sits nicely on top of a small bookshelf I use for print materials.

When my starter cartridge ran out, though, the printer suddenly wouldn't print another single copy, so it is important to keep an eye on ink levels and have a replacement cartridge on hand. Luckily, I had purchased a replacement cartridge when I bought my printer, so I was not left hanging.

The password takes quite a bit of time to put in being that you have to scroll through numbers and letters to get to the correct letter/number/capital that you need. Once I got everything running the correct way, I haven't had a problem. It prints great for what I need. I am only a casual user and may print 15 pages every week. I have no ideal how long the toner will last but my last Brother laser printer was fantastic. That is why I purchased this one.

After spending 20 hours trying to connect I called in an experienced IT friend. He couldn't get a connection. An hour on the phone with Brother Help didn't do it either. As a consequence I'm still using a USB connection.

I have used this printer in quite enough time to write a review. It was very easy to use Brother laser, it makes the life so much comfortable. It was easy to follow the instructions, you can print anything from your phone as long you are connected to same WiFi. Copying was easy. I was tired of my old ink printer it was keep running out of ink and cost me way too much. With laser printer I could print thousands of paper without being worrie about runng out of ink.

We just followed the instructions that came with the printer. It probably took 10 minutes. The only problem we’ve had so far is one time the computer had a problem connecting to the printer. We shut the computer off, then back on, and have had no problems since. It’s very quiet, even when printing. When in sleep mode, there is no sound. The copies come out looking good. I do some taxes, so wanted a machine that would have good quality print, and it does.

The only problem I had was that the driver provided by Brother would not install on Mac computers running any version of an operating system below 10.7 (this fact was not mentioned on Amazon, where I bought the printer. I had to search the web for an acceptable driver and eventually found a PD driver on Gutenprint. Except for my driver problem I've found the printer to be superb.

E.g. to type in SSID and password. Caveat, if you make a mistake, you need to go through the procedure again. Also, in scan resolution, it cannot pull up clearly a dry seal stamp on paper. I tried several settings to no avail. I had to use another scanner to get a scan done for this purpose. Printing B/W access via WiFi is fast and reliable. Happy with that feature!

When I initially got it I thought it would be difficult to assemble and set up, boy was I wrong. It was so simple to set up and I`m so happy as to how compact it truly is. It`s slightly larger than my old printer but has way more features. The WiFi setup was quick and easy as was the fax setup. I tested out the scanning and the quality was superb. I can`t wait to use it more in the office as it lets me do so much and it`s pretty quiet. Great product definitely would recommend for home and office!

AirPrint works like a charm. I couldn’t be happier. All my brother products have worked smoothly and give me no problems. Item: Brother HL-L2390DW Laser Printer with Copy & Scan Duplex and Wireless PrintingFirst Impressions: I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Therefore, this review is one of honest opinion. When it arrived at my doorstep, the box was quite large. After unpacking it, the contents were well packaged and protected against any delivery damage. The machine was a good size for my office, and the square shape made it easy to find a location in the office that was convenient and compact. I also noticed there was not very many buttons on the machine, which had me both concerned and curious. Luckily, they were easy to figure out, and should be just as easy for anyone who is not familiar with a multi-function machine of this type.Assembly: The machine came already assembled, and taped for protection. I simply just had to remove the protective taping and insert the toner cartridge. Then once I plugged it in, it was ready for use. All I had to do was insert some paper, and install the software onto my computer using the installation disc provided.Pros: The most compelling feature is the wireless ability to print. As long as you have wi-fi set up in your office or home, it should be a very easy process. So I pulled up some emails on my phone, and decided to print some attachments and email messages. From my iPhone, I selected the print option and the printer automatically showed up as one of my printing options. This was really cool. So I selected the new printer, and it started printing right away. However, the print size (letters and font) were quite large. Right now, I am unsure how to resize the font. I had another family member print from their phone as well, and the font size was large on their printout as well. Copying was a breeze. I can put a document onto the glass for copying, and just hit the Start button to make a quick easy copy of something. However, keep in mind this is only a black & white printer, so anything of color will not show up in color. Another really cool feature of this machine is that you can do double-sided printing and copying. From my mobile device, I was able to select an option to print either single-sided or double-sided. I selected double-sided, and it came out looking really good. The digital display is easy to read and understand. You do have to stand above the small screen to read it. It is not adjustable. But it`s fairly easy to navigate through the instructions on the screen.Cons: Installing the software onto my computer took a little bit of time, but afterwards I was a little confused on how to start scanning a document. I was confused because I had two different programs appear on my computer. One of them was the Brother Control Center app, and the other was the Brother iPrint&Scan app. I actually tried scanning with both of them to see if there was a difference between the two, but they both performed the same tasks. So I`m just not sure why there are two different options for using the print and scanning functions.Copying can be a bit of a task if you have an existing multi-page printout that needs copied. There is no feeder with this machine, so the only way I see of scanning larger documents is to place one page on the glass at a time. Otherwise, try to find the digital copy and print from your computer or mobile device.Scanning photos does not work well with this machine. I have an older scanner that I`ve been using to scan photos, and it does a good job. So I wanted to compare the new machine to the old one. This new one scans photos, but they appear somewhat blurry and some of the colors on the photo blended together. I did this using the same setting as my older model. So then I decided to try the new scanner at the highest resolution possible (1200 pixels) to see if it would offer a better quality scan. Unfortunately, even the highest resolution offered a poorly scanned result. So I will not be using this machine for scanning photos.

When I was researching a laser printer for my desktop, I was considering either a brother or a samsung model. I originally bought the samsung model that I promptly returned and picked up the Brother HL-L2390DW model which was on sale for $99. I loved the manual that came with it with clear instructions and pictures. I'm very technologically challenged but set-up was a breeze. I like that it's a small enough printer that I can put on a shelf on my bookcase. It's quiet and prints high quality copies (including double sided!. I haven't tried scanning with it yet. But so far, so good! I should have gone with my first instinct and gotten the Brother to begin with!

This model is a terrific personal printer producing clean, clear, crisp documents. The one weak spot seems to be envelope which it is not good at reproducing.

It also doesn't waste any printing media, which will bring down my costs immensely. Ink jet printers never use up all their ink before it dries out (unless you are printing frequently or very large batches. Toner does not dry up, and it goes much farther.

Haven't had any issues with paper jams which my other printer had often. The only draw back is my husbands ipad does not have settings to reduce the size of print. There may be an app to be able to, but have not been able to find anything to do so.

The machine only came with what is called a reference guide offering the briefest of insight into the common day to day operations. I had expected a printed manual. I had occasion to change routers causing a new router name and password to be entered into the printer. The reference guide offered no clue as to how to do this, causing me to call tech support to walk me through the process. I was told this was in the manual. I said I didn't receive a manual. She said it's on-line. Wouldn't it be better to include it in spite of the trivial expense of including it in the box? Also, I print a lot of business envelopes. Everyone I have printed so far has come out of the printer with a severe wrinkle ironed in.

After that, it connected to WiFi my computer found it and connected to it. Very simple. It wakes from sleep very fast. My old inkjet sometimes took up to 2 min. to wake up and print.Great printer.

This is a great printer and scanner combo for the price! It is light weight though takes up a good amount of desk space. It has a top glass for scanning and copying, a paper drawer, and a paper feed tray. I like that you can control scanning and copying from both the machine as well as from your computer. The scans are crisp and clean. It was easy to set up although it took a while to get the machine to connect to my wireless network so that I could print without a USB cable. The only drawbacks that I have found are that it is fairly slow and it is loud when scanning and printing. I wish that it were easier to set up on the wireless network- if I want to set up my other computer or my partner`s computer then I will have to go through the long process again! I am glad it has this feature though. It comes in handy when multiple computers need to connect to the printer. I highly recommend this model for the price!

However the scanner really sucks. I am a graphic designer that relies on full rez images for professional use in print, web, and motion graphics. I am used to scanners that go much higher than this one. Double, if not triple the resolution of this printer. I have never second guessed any scanner since every scanner I have ever used since the mid 90s has scanned up to and past 1200 dpi.Now that we have exceeded the return policy and threw away the box, we are stuck with a printer we hate. What a disappointment.

Networked for home personal/business use, and access via three computers is working well. Fast printing, excellent quality. Only negative is the relatively high cost of OEM toner. Have bought one from Brother and am experimenting now with a third party vendor. First shipment was not recognized by the printer, but the replacement had a chip that appears to be working fine, with no change in quality.

I needed a scanner function but I also knew I could skimp on color at this point. I am SO glad I found this one. My dad recommended a laser printer, as it's more cost efficient. This has all the features I need and prints beautifully. I am not technically savvy at all and this was a breeze to set up. I cannot get my iPhone to connect so that I can print directly from there. However, I will figure it out one day soon & I don't think it takes away from how great this printer is - especially b/c I know it's possible. Overall, great, quality buy for a great price. Seriously can't beat it!

BIG mistake.The 2390 was difficult to set up and then on the first printing it jammed; I removed the jammed paper; there was a continued message, "pull out the two-sided tray...." No idea where that is -- I pulled out the only tray that held the paper but the message would not go away and I could not print.

We had an older ineffective printer for our home/business and this printer has completely upgraded our ability to be efficient in and out of the work place. The assembly was extremely easy, even for those who are possibly technically challenged. The printer comes out in once piece with the cables and ink cartridge separate. There are paper instructions as well as an installation disk. Once installed the printer copies and prints large volumes with ease. I`ve used it 5 days a week for the past two weeks and there hasn`t been any slack in ink or any paper jams! I 100% recommend the Brother laser printer for anyone who has a job big or small!

Only had this printer a couple of months but have loved the wireless connection to the computer and our phones. I print more stuff now as I'm not as concerned about running out of ink. Don't miss color at all.

I noticed the reviewers mentioned it was difficult to set up the wireless, and since I was planning to simply plug it directly in to the computer, it was very quick and easy to setup. It works like a charm! When it goes to sleep to conserve energy, and I set up a print job, I have to press the start button twice, and then it wakes up and prints. I have not had an issue where it wouldn't respond after doing so. The print quality is good, clear. I've printed about 350 pages, and only now am I getting the low ink cartridge message. Fortunately I knew this was only a starter cartidge so I bought a full TN-730 cartridge replacement. You can also buy a TN-760 cartridge to use which prints even more pages, but the TN-730 is cheaper and should last a long time. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. It's a reliable and sturdy printer and it looks nice on our table next to the computer. In my opinion it's very simple to operate and for the price, a great deal.

The Brother software is superb and the combination of hardware and software is far better than the HP multi-function printer/scanner that was replaced with this Brother product. I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Packaging: Printer arrived packed well in a very big box. Instruction manual was easy to find and seemed simple enough. Set-up: Assembling the product was pretty easy...I like that there aren`t that many wires in the back to juggle and connect. But setting up the connection to wifi was a little difficult. The password didn`t seem to be working and I had to read through the instructions several times and make many attempts to get it to finally work. Design: This printer looks high-quality and professional. It`s a decent size, not too large or small and looks nice in my home office. Printing: Not sure if there is an issue with the connection/wifi on my end but when I press Print it takes a very long time for the printer to actually start printing. I thought, in fact, that it was not working but then after several minutes as I was trying to figure out what went wrong, the printer started "whirring" suddenly, and the pages came right out. I tried this several times over a few days and it did the same thing. It does seem that this problem is only with the initial printing job on a particular day. Almost seems like it needs a long time to "wake up" once it has been dormant. Once the first job completes and you try to do a second job, the printing then starts immediately. Not quite sure why this happens. Printing quality: Once the pages actually do start printing, they come out fast and the words come out clear, clean and crisp. Love the double-sided option as that will save on paper. Copy/Scan: These are great features and work well. Just popped a page in to copy, pressed a button and it came right out. Regular paper jobs work great, photos come out just ok. Comparisons: This product is a better product, in my opinion, than previous printers I have owned just for the fact that I do not have to buy tons of ink. I was constantly buying ink cartridges before and I`m hoping that this will eliminate that need. So far so good. I also like how modern it looks and that there aren`t so many wires sticking out. The copy and scan feature is great. My only dislike is that my old printer started the printing job a lot faster for some reason. Improvements: I would love it if the wifi/connection set up was much easier and if the printer started printing jobs faster. Also if photos scanned a little more clearly. Overall: Even though there a few little glitches, it is still a nice quality printer that does it`s job. I`d say that I am somewhere between very and fairly satisfied with this product.

This is a great laser printer for my basic copying and scanning needs. It is extremely beneficial that I have the option of wireless printing. The packaging was good and kept the laser printer contained and protected. The overall set-up was very straightforward and was an easy process. The wireless set-up process was a bit cumbersome because the reference guide covered the set-up for several models. I like to think that my husband and I are computer/electronic literate, but after a couple of hours of trying to set it up, we went to an online tutorial site and watched someone setting it up. We followed those directions and were able to use it in no time. It would be beneficial for the reference guide to be specific for this model only or at least only include a couple of similar models. Once the HL-L2390DW was up and running, it worked like a dream. The printer is quieter than my previous printers and the quality is clear and crisp. Even when I print in "fast" quality (which I generally do to save on the cost of ink it is a great print quality. I usually only print in black ink, so this is exactly what I needed. The print time is faster than the previous printers I have owned as well. The scanning is also of very good quality. The images are crisp and clear. I would certainly recommend the Brother HL-L2390DW to anyone looking for a basic laser printer with copy and scanning capability, especially with the wireless feature.

I have never been let down with brother until I bought this one. Within the 12 month warranty, it refused to power up. I received a refurbished model shipped free with no questions asked. For that, I would give Brother customer support 5 stars. I give this printer only 4 stars because I expected at least 5 years with absolutely no problems. I got less than a year. I've got 2 months on the replacement, and I hope it will exceed my expectations. Other than than, it's a great quality, fast printer. My children all love the airprint feature.

However, it often does not pick up on some on line bills that I want to print unless I download them, close out and re-open the download. I find this very bothersome, never had this happen with my HP wireless printer. Also, sometimes It kicks the breaker partially in the room the printer is in.

When I tried to use it today, it would not work, stating that the connection was lost between the computer and the machine. Everything shows that they are connected, but the scanner still will not work. The troubleshooting option is worthless, and there is no way to get support through Brother. I have students waiting for their work, but I cannot send it because of this machine.

The reason for the 4.5 stars is that I think it should have lip where the paper comes out to easily grab. Currently, you have to reach in a tiny bit to get the paper but other than that it is s super printer.

The only negative on the whole thing is the interface for the scanner. Not exactly intuitive or user friendly. Takes a minute but, this one concern is outweighed by all the other benefits.

I like especially the print speed, which is much faster then my old printer had.i did not use a wireless connection. I prefer the cord and I am ok with it.

My HP printer, which was just over a year old, quit printing because of a defective print head. I needed a printer -- fast! Since I mostly print black, I though a laser printer might be the best bet. It was! It's basic -- not a lot of bells and whistles -- but the copies are clean and crisp. I recommend it.

Wi-Fi connection wonky.While everything seems fine -- good quality and not-too-complicated operating procedures -- the unit constantly loses its wi-fi connection and the only way I can seem to get it reconnected is to turn the unit off and on again. It's bothersome. It seems that whenever it "goes to sleep" that it's hard to wake up without rebooting. Also this unit is HUGE considering it's a basic functioning monochromatic printer. It is not a printer for a tight space in a home office. It needs lots of real estate.

I haven't owned the product long enough to rate the capacity/value of the toner cartridge yet, so maybe they'll nudge for another review when I am more familiar with the machine. The user manual is... OK, but thankfully the Command Center tools are intuitive/easy to use.

Never worry about using up the ink or it drying up when not being used. Very clear prints and copies. Ready in seconds, when needed for printing job. No paper jams. Very easy to load new ink cartridge, no mess. I haven't used the Wi-Fi feature but great to have, if needed. Paper drawer holds large quantity of paper and I do a fair amount of printing. So far I haven't found anything negative about this product. I have had 4 inkjet printers, got tired of buying ink and paying such a high price for the ink, decided to switch to laser. Researched a number of brands of laser printers and decided that this product was the best buy with the best features for me.

I'm dazzled by the new printer's speed and efficiency and ease of use. Although the setup instructions defeated this vintage non-techie, with the help of a relative the printer was quickly humming into action. Love it. Does auto both-sides printing (can do single-side), has worked with my Mac (MacOS "Catalina" and two prior releases) out-of-box including WiFi. Toner page count estimates in right ballpark. Easily replaced toner carts (still on original drum). Copier function works well. Nice sharp printing and copying. Makes pretty good scans. OTOH printing is manual only, no sheet feed. Scanner is medium res. No loss of stars for these things at the price point.BUT scanner software is often unable to recognize individual photos if scanning several snaps at once, and correcting this by adjusting boundaries and/or creating new boxes tends to be awkward. For this, -1 star for "Features".

Contacted tech support once and was as unimpressed as I could be at the treatment I received. The woman seemed to be talking down to me and was inconvenienced that I called. Not the best representation of Brother. Quite honestly, if I could return this printer and buy another brand I would.I had another Brother printer for 5-6 years and it worked well right up until it gave up the ghost. That is the reason I simply bought another Brother printer. Obviously they didn't get things right with this one. What is the purpose of having a wireless printer when I have to physically cable to it to print? That often interrupts the entire flow of things and is a major pain to me.This printer goes to sleep, then deep sleep and refuses to wake up. I have yet to find a solution to this problem and I can pretty much guarantee I won't call tech support again after I was treated so poorly.To sum it up, BUY ANOTHER PRINTER, NOT THE HL-L2390DW .

This is not an inkjet, so the biggest issue I have had for years was throwing printers away because the nozzles kept drying up with low usage, not a problem with toner, and the cartridges last longer and cost no more than ink cartridges.

I researched multiple brands, and decided on the Brothers, even though, there were a few reviews about setup issues. I am so glad I purchased this unit. The printing is great, fast, and sharp lettering. There were NO issues with setting it up. I downloaded the current drivers, and linked it to my wifi, with no issues what so ever. All I can say is FOLLOW the quick setup guide, with some patience, and you should have no issues, and a great little laser printer

When my original printer got a little tired after all those years, I replaced it with the current model, and I am still very pleased with the results.For day-to-day printing, I don't need an expensive, over-the-top model, so this basic laser printer fits the bill. It has some useful features like business card and 2-sided copying, which are things I didn't think I would use, but already have.My only criticism is that the menu interface is a little arcane, and could use a little simplification, which I imagine is the case on higher end models in the Brother line. This isn't a big enough issue to take away a star, however, especially in the light of a very low purchase price and cost to use.

Except for the wireless setup ... it worked fine with my previous WIFI network, but when I switched providers it was intermittent. Technical support helped as best they could, but I'm not well versed in tinkering with my WIFI, so for the amount I print I'll use the cable.

Scanner also works well.The one negative is that this printer will OFTEN trip the AFCI breaker eventhough there is little else on the circuit. This require me to go down two flights of stairs to reset the breaker. Brother was not able to help! My conclusion is that the cause is an internal printer problem that could be remedied.

When you turn off your computer and printer after use, the printer will notfunction when the computer and printer are turned on again. Although the Paper comes out a little wrinkled some times, this printer is so much of an improvement over a high maintenance cost InkJet model. I would like to see an improvement with the way it prints envelopes. You have to open the back and push two levers down and then insert the envelope through the front. This does work but I would think Brothers could come up with an improvement.

I am SO happy that I switched from my old inkjet printer to a laser printer. I go through the procedure of opening the printer, removing the toner tray - no jam so I put it back together and then it prints fine.

I connected plenty of printers to my little laptop: Canon, Epson, HP, Kyocera, ... none of them was as cumbersome as this brand new brother! Other than that, I like the compact form and the print/scan/copy quality is what I expect from a modern small printer. This printer works only with USB or WiFi. Would it have been so costly to add an Ethernet port? Just asking/suggesting. It could have cut my setup drama by 45min+

Yes this is more expensive than an inkjet but the value is cheaper when you factor in how much ink we buy and how fast it runs out. It prints fast. And we have it wirelessly. I print from the dining room. And the printer in on the opposite side of the house in my office. So no interference between the walls. I originally had trouble connecting to the internet but my tech savvy husband figured it out. We have 2 sets of wifi connections and it wasn't registering because I was using the wrong one that is connected to our pc. All in all I love this printer and have been using it for about 3 months.

Printing quality is very good. i love the duplexing feature but a little convoluted to set for default. It saves a ton of paper. It's in the bedroom and it's quiet and just makes a little noise when it prints, very nice feature. So far I'm still on the OEM cartridge, with less capacity then standard, and still lots of toner left.I'm using this in my winter home in Florida. Now, I'm planning on buying a second one for my home in upstate NY. When I'm gone for six months, I don't have to worry about the inkjets drying out and clogging like on my old printer.This printer has a high rating in the leading consumer testing magazine, which I subscribe.

And using a color printer for just black/white printing is expensive with those various color cartridge's you have to keep buying. But this printer? It goes on and on with a high yield cartridge. It is so economical. Plus it's scanning software is easy to use and fantastic. I've been impressed over and over again by this printer.

Keys on printer itself are frustrating since keying in to copy two sided is ignored 90% of the time. But that flaw is outweighed by the quiet, the speed, and the reliability so far.

Making a document copy is not as intuitive as I would like, however, I don't make many so I can live with it. The paper tray is extremely easy to manage. I have not had a single paper jam or any other hiccup so far.

Doing a pareto analysis you will find most print jobs only need one color which convinced me of acquiring this printer, so far so good although usage has been moderate. .

I have already printed hundreds of pages on the initial toner cartridge and it is still going strong. So much better than the Laserjet printers made by HP.

The scan and copy features are a very nice plus and are options I have not had with any of the single function computer printers I have owned in the past.The wireless printing feature in this not overly expensive printer is a function that is frankly amazing. That did not stop me from purchasing a USB printer cable as a backup in case of router or printer problems with the wireless mode.The only real drawback for this (and any other printer is the asinine pricing of O.E.M. toner cartridges. If Brother would price its ink and toner products competitively with aftermarket suppliers - who seem to manage to make a profit - I would have no complaints about this device. At least with this laser printer, I don't have to be concerned with little used ink cartridges drying up and wasting my money.

I use the scan app on my phone - it’s seamless. The printer is very reliable and comes out of sleep mode instantly. My previous printer kept dropping the WiFi connection, while this one is instantly ready no matter how long between print jobs. The print quality is very good. The setup was a breeze. I print mainly from my phone and tablet. All in all, this printer does everything I need and I don’t even have to think about it. It just works.

But I do have one problem with it I am getting a message saying replace Drum soon. we have not run that many copies through the machine for that message to be coming up and I am afraid that it is just going to stop working and tell me to replace the drum. I don`t know if this a common problem or not but it is the problem that we are having..

Needed help after hours but no one there. Spent eight hours. Barely works. Can barely use it. Plus prints look funny. I gave up. Back to copy shop for me.

The wireless printing from the PC, Android, and iPhone works flawlessly. Setup was very easy in the phone app and on the PC; just follow the prompts and give them a minute to fund the printer. Two-sided prints are quick. The print looks really good and doesn't have any artifacts or smudging. Scanning is fast and doesn't require much to get the scan to the PC.

Yay!We opted for Black only because we were so sick of the 5 in 1 colored printers, when we didn’t use the colors so much anyway, but had to pay a lot for 4 of them when they would empty out. We were so happy to get this Brother printer years later! For some unknown reason, I have trouble printing from my iPad a lot! Everything looks ready when I go to print, except the “Print button” doesn’t turn blue so it will send to print. ( I have to click on my printer name, back and forth several times, (if it chooses to show up, instead of, “AirPrint not available,” which is irritating also, because I have never used AirPrint. And after hitting the Brother name enough times, going back and forth from location page to double sided page, if I’m lucky, the print light will turn blue, and shortly after I can hear the sweet sounds of the printer printing! My husband rarely has any problems printing from his computer. He doesn’t understand why I have so much trouble. And I bet it’s something really small that I didn’t do or need to do, but just have no clue how to make it work all the time on a regular basis.Thanks.

I use this printer for homeschooling, so I'm printing at random hours and I need to be able to print from my phone on the fly. I bought this printer because it had such good reviews, but it regularly glitches. Sometimes it will print from my phone, but usually not. Half the time it it prints from my ChromeBook, but the other half it's uncertain why it isn't working. It's terrible. Save your sanity.

We've had it about one month and it has worked when we needed it, has never let us down, and is much faster than our ink jet printer.

This printer is easy to use and takes very good quality scans, another plus for an inexpensive replacement printer. It's footprint is also smaller than our prior inkjet printer, so that was a big plus. We are quite happy with its overall performance.

That is probably related to how I originally did that set up. I will probably be able to resolve it. The printer, scanner, copier all work very well, print jobs complete quickly and the quality of print is good.
