All Data in this hardware encrypted hard drive is encrypted on the fly and the PINs and Data remain encrypted while the drive is at rest. Completely cross-platform compatible and OS agnostic, the Padlock 3 thrives with Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, and Chrome. It also thrives where software-based encrypted drives won't even function, such as embedded systems, machinery, and any equipment in possession of a powered USB port and storage file system. All internal componentry of this keypad USB drive is protected from physical tampering with a layer of hardened epoxy, and the firmware is locked down which prevents any modifications making it immune to malware attacks, such as BadUSB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a Fiserv approved drive below are just some bullet points about it, we have had great success with this product.• Featuring 256-bit hardware encryption, the Aegis Padlock 3.0 seamlessly encrypts all data on the drive in real-time, keeping your data safe even if the hard drive is removed from its enclosure.• With a super speed USB 3.0 interface, you can now access your files faster than ever before. The Aegis Padlock 3.0 is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports• The unattended Aegis Padlock 3.0 can be configured to lock after a pre-determined amount of time of your choosing. Ideal for protecting your data when you’re away from your desk• All data, PINs, and encryption keys are always encrypted while at rest.• The Aegis Padlock uses a three pronged approach to protect against a Brute Force attack. The first step is to deny access to the drive until the drive can verify the user PIN. After several incorrect attempts the drive will lock itself, requiring the drive to be plugged in again to input a PIN. This feature blocks automated attempts to enter PIN numbers. Lastly, after a predetermined number of failed PIN entries, the Padlock assumes it is being attacked and will destroy the encryption key and lock itself, rendering the data useless and requiring a total reset to redeploy the Padlock• Protection against hacker attempts doesn’t stop with Brute Force. Incorporated into the Aegis Padlock’s electronics is Apricorn’s Variable Time Circuit (VTC) technology, working to thwart “timing attacks” aimed at accessing the drive by studying the behavior and infiltrating the Padlock’s electronics

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great secure storageFor secure storage that is simple to use these drives are the best we use. You can set up multiple passwords on the device (keep one as an admin in case the user loses theirs). The unlock method is so easy any user can do it. So far we haven't had any of them fail after several years of use, which is better reliability than our encrypted flash like Ironkey or Gold Key. The only downside is that if you don't set a secondary password there is no way to recover the device if the user forgets their password.
